The Global Apparel Market is Booming

Right now is one of the best times to be a designer of apparel. All over the world, the online market is growing, with consumers seeking out the latest trends, styles and brands. If you want to be part of it then Texprint can help propel you to success. Lets take a look at some of the most recent statistics about the ever-expanding world of fashion...

We start with a recent report from Statista, which projected that the global e-commerce market for fashion will reach an unprecedented 15.3 TRILLION kr by 2030, less than five years from now.  The vast majority of online sales are accounted for by clothing, as opposed to the smaller sales numbers made up by accessories such as bags and shoes.

One of the biggest growth drivers identified by the Statista report is the increasing consumer desire for personalised products and shopping experiences. This is exactly what the print on demand industry is providing. Other data from Statista show that more than a fifth (21%) of online clothing sales came from e-commerce stores in 2024, highlighting the need to have a presence on these platforms.

The dropshipping model continues to gain traction and nowhere is this more apparent than in the fashion sector. According to data from Grand View Research, fashion accounted for 2024's largest share in the dropshipping market at 34%. As the clothing industry is so strongly influenced by trends, which change all the time, dropshipping is an ideal model as it means that designers can create new products quickly and do not have to hold inventory.

The EU is one of the biggest consumers of fashion, especially items which are bought online. A report by Eurostat showed that 46% of shoppers in the EU had bought items of apparel online last year.

The fashion industry in general can have major environmental impacts. This in thankfully changing, with 72% of respondents to a survey by Harvard Business Insights reporting that they are 'aware of sustainability and environmental issues surrounding the fashion industry'. As a growing number of consumers are preferring to purchase sustainable apparel, the compilers of the survey projected that clothing made using organic and recycled materials would experience the fastest growth rate (16.2%) in the coming five years.
